As you know from my previous blogs I’d well and truly fallen off the band wagon, this coupled with a manic few months has meant that we hadn’t been to a Saturday run with Leeds Frontrunners for what seemed like ages.
So yesterday was the day, alarm set for 6:30am to allow porridge to be eaten in enough time to ensure it’s settled by the time we run. This week, my wife had 8 miles to run but luckily on my plan I only had 4 miles to run.
Notice the change from KM’s to miles…. a psychological change now that we are in official trading for Brighton Half Marathon.
We arrived at 8:30 so we could get a head start of the Frontrunners but would make sure we finished in time for a cuppa in the cafe.
To do 4 miles, this meant 2 and a bit laps of the lake at Roundhay.
The first 3 miles went ok but the last mile dragged, my legs were heavy and tired and I started to clock watch, this is never good as my brain starts switching off… but this time my legs got extra momentum.. maybe it’s the thought of a sprint finish that got my going, either way I was happy as punch when my Fitbit buzzed when I hit 4 miles.
This is longest I’ve run in a while, probably a good few months. Whilst it’s hard it does feel like I’m getting my fitness back. 💪🏃♀️
It was fab to catch up with the guys back at the cafe, I’m so lucky to be part of such a fab running club – everyone is so supportive 😀
